Alert message sent 28/08/2019 09:59:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good morning I hope you all enjoyed the fantastic weather over the bank holiday weekend. Below is an update for the centre beat area of Basingstoke consisting of Grove, Eastrop, Brookvale and Kings Furlong for the last couple of weeks.
Current Priorities
The 3 current priorities are burglaries, robberies and cycle thefts. In the last fortnight there has been 1 residential burglary and 2 business burglaries. 1 person has been identified for a business burglary and has been charged. There has been 1 robbery in the last 2 weeks, a person has been arrested and released under investigation. I am pleased to say there has been no cycle thefts in the last fortnight. This is a result of successful bike marking events in the town centre and dealing with offenders effectively.
Crime Trends
Over the summer holidays there has been a rise in motorcycle offences where they are being ridden off road in parks and wooded areas. 2 people have been successfully identified and are currently being dealt with.
The 3 areas of crime which have decreased the most over the last 90 days are thefts, theft of pedal cycle and possession of drugs. Robberies have also shown a large decrease.
For the rolling 12 month period Eastrop has shown a decrease in crime of 13.57%. Brookvale and Kings Furlong has decreased by 7.38%. Grove has decreased by 18.89%.
The 3 streets which have recorded the most crime are Festival Place, Worting Road and Winchester Street.
