A drug dealer has been jailed for two and a half years after officers found cocaine hidden in a sock in Aldershot. Officers were patrolling Grosvenor Road when they noticed the driver of a black Mercedes acting suspiciously at around 3.10am on Friday 8 March 2024. Due to suspicious circumstances at the scene, officers searched the vehicle and found £375 in cash, one wrap of cocaine and two mobile phones. The driver was also searched and officers located 18 wraps of cocaine which had been hidden in a sock within his underwear. Iurie Gavrilita, 30, of Dore Close, Northampton, was later charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A. He pleaded guilty and was jailed for a total of two years and six months at Northampton Crown Court on Friday 27 June. Detective Constable Luke Kedge said: “We take drug activity extremely seriously and I’m pleased to say that this sentence means another drug dealer is off our streets. “I hope the result highlights that our officers will do everything in their power to ensure Hart and Rushmoor is not targeted by drugs networks. “We know that drug supply causes harm and misery to our communities. Our officers are determined to keep relentlessly pursuing criminals to reduce the negative impact they have on the local community, making it safe for everyone.” | ||||
