National Hate Crime Awareness Week

Alert message sent 12/10/2021 16:05:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

National Hate Crime Awareness week 9th – 16th Oct

What is a hate crime?
Hate crimes and incidents come in many different forms. It can be because of hatred on the grounds of race, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or disability. A victim does not have to be a member of the group at which the hostility is targeted. In fact, anyone could be a victim of a hate crime.
These incidents may involve physical attacks, verbal abuse, obscene calls or texts, offensive mail, domestic abuse, harassment, damage to property, arson, bullying or graffiti. Even dumping of rubbish or offensive or dangerous substances posted through letterboxes. Therefore, it is important to get victims to report it and for them to know that Hampshire Constabulary will take it seriously.
