Cannabis factory dismantled in Farnborough

Alert message sent 18/05/2021 08:30:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Officers found a cannabis factory containing more than 1,000 plants at a house in Farnborough.

We were called at 2.45am on Saturday 15 May to a report of a fight in Church Avenue.

Officers attended and found cannabis plants in the road. Further enquiries led them to a house in nearby Sycamore Road, where they found more than 1,000 cannabis plants.

Nobody was found inside the house.

The electrical supply had been tampered with and the house also contained ventilation tubing, lighting equipment and fans. The factory has since been dismantled and made safe.

House-to-house enquiries have been carried out but no arrests have been made at this stage.

Anyone with information on this incident should call police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44210187304.

You can also report information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Inspector Kirsten Troman, from Rushmoor’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The production of cannabis is often linked to hidden harm and organised crime groups.

“Often those groups take advantage of vulnerable people, exploiting them or making them work in servitude, and the money made is reinvested into other crimes that can cause serious harm.

“The electrical requirement is also really dangerous and can be a huge fire risk, putting neighbouring properties, and lives in danger.

“It is also linked to anti-social behaviour, like drug-related activity in your neighbourhood, which can cause misery to local communities.

“For these reasons, it’s not just cannabis, it’s linked to serious criminality and serious harm which we are not going to ignore.”
