Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Ryan Harvey, 25, of no fixed abode has been jailed for 23 weeks for two non-dwelling burglaries and breach of two suspended sentence orders.

The first burglary took place at an address in Derby Road, Southampton between 11pm and 11.50pm on Monday, 18 January.

The homeowner was indoors when he heard a noise coming from outside. He looked out and saw his shed light on. Upon going outside, he saw Harvey run off and jump over a garden fence.

Items had been moved but nothing was stolen.

The second burglary took place at an address in St Marys Road, Southampton, between 5.45pm and 6.05pm on Sunday, 24 January.

Harvey smashed a window to gain entry to the property, that was unoccupied whilst undergoing renovation.

A short time later he was seen leaving the property and running off towards the fire station.

An angle grinder was stolen.

Harvey pleaded guilty to two non-dwelling burglaries at Southampton Crown Court on Friday 12 March and was sentenced on the same date.

He was also found in breach of two suspended sentence orders imposed in October at Southampton Magistrates’ Court for two shoplifting offences that took place on 20 October 2020.
