COVID-19 UPDATE

Alert message sent 31/03/2020 14:56:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear residents

We just wanted to update you with what Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing team have been doing in this worrying time.

Also to thank all of you who have been listening to the government guidelines of social distancing, to stay 2 metres apart whilst out. We cannot express how important it is that everyone must adhere to the rules set out by the government to STAY AT HOME !!!

Please, please stay at home unless you are

Shopping for basic necessities (food, medicine) which must be as infrequent as possible

Taking exercise – one form a day either walk, cycle or run - alone or with members of the same household

For any medical need, or provide care to a vulnerable person

Travelling for work purposes, but only where you cannot work from home.

We have been patrolling daily around the super markets and local parks and we are still seeing quite a few people out and about, we understand if you are doing the above however please remember to keep yourself safe. Whilst in the supermarkets it is good to see that people are trying as best that they can to keep the 2 metre distance. And credit to all the supermarket staff who are trying their best to keep you safe and are working long tiring hours to re sock the selves to provide food to you all.

There have been comments made and abusive behaviour to some staff this is totally unacceptable and we have encouraged staff to report this to us. Do remember that they may wish to be at home safe with their families however they are out completing a very important job at this difficult time.

We have spoken to many people and provided advice and guidance for them and education on some parts about social gatherings and on quite a few occasions we have moved people on and dispersed groups.
