Home protection reminder during hot weather

Alert message sent 17/06/2021 11:56:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good morning,

Despite the clouds and the looming threat of thunder, it’s still warm out there and as we head deeper into summer it’s only going to get warmer.

We feel this is a good time to offer a reminder about what you can do to protect your home from potential burglars and opportunist thieves.

In the heat, it’s tempting to leave doors and windows open for long periods of time.

If you are opening a window, make sure you keep an eye on it throughout the day and don’t leave any valuables, such as car keys, close to the window.

You can also install window opening restrictors which allow you to ventilate your home whilst stopping potential intruders from trying to get in.

Most importantly – if you are leaving the house for the day, make sure windows and doors are shut and securely locked.

There’s plenty more advice on how to protect your homes on our website: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/
