Catalytic theft

Alert message sent 13/05/2021 10:06:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

On the 11th May criminals have been interrupted in the process of the removal of a catalytic converter off of a Honda CRV parked on St Johns Piece / Road Oakley. Significant damage has been caused to the vehicle in the attempted removal.
On the 12th May it appears criminals have returned to same location again left empty handed.
Honda Jazz and CRV between the years 2000 & 2005 have in particular been targeted in the past according to a Honda specialised. This does not exclude any other car and it is happening during the daytime as well as evenings.
Do you know how to spot catalytic converter theft?
Seen a car jacked up and someone lying under it?
Heard the sound of metal being cut?
Call 999
