Further arrest made following racially aggravated assault in Southampton

Officers have made a further arrest following a racially aggravated assault in Southampton.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 23 February at around 4.15pm in Vosper Road, Southampton.

It was reported that a man in his 30’s was out jogging when a group of people in a car drove past and shouted abuse at him. The group of men then stopped the car and assaulted the man.

The man in his 30’s, suffered minor facial injuries and a minor injury to his elbow.

A man, aged 23 from Southampton, was initially arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault. He was released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

Yesterday, Thursday, 4 March, officers arrested a second man, aged 35, from Southampton, on suspicion of racially aggravated assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He remains in custody at this time.

Enquiries are ongoing.
