Burglary crime prevention advice

Alert message sent 24/02/2021 11:09:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

We are issuing a warning to householders to be on their guard following a series of burglaries in Colden Common, and Brambridge.

Officers will be conducting extra patrols in the district but residents should ensure that windows and doors are kept locked and secure. Also keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours and their properties and report any suspicious people or vehicles.

A burglary took place over night on 23 February at an address on Tees Green. Suspects gained access to a garage and stole a bike.

A further burglary took place overnight between 22 February and 23 February in Pennington Close. Entry was gained to a shed, nothing was stolen in this instance.

There was also a further burglary in Upper Moors Road, Brambridge, overnight between 22 February and 23 February. Suspects gained access to a garage and three bikes were stolen.

Officers investigating think there may be a link with two reports of theft from motor vehicle in the area during the same time period. One on Spring Lane in Colden Common, and another in Meadowcroft Close in Otterbourne.

It’s a good time to consider your home security, and think about using simple tactics to protect your home and your property.

As well as ensuring windows and doors are kept secure when not in the room, and during the night, you can ensure any side gates are kept locked to prevent access to the rear of the property and keep car keys and all other keys out of sight and reach of windows and letterboxes.

You could also consider security lighting, or having an intruder alarm installed by an approved contractor.

Please report anything suspicious to us by phoning 101, or 999 in an emergency.
