Update from Rushmoor Police Inspector

Alert message sent 22/02/2021 15:00:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Hello everyone, an update from your local policing Inspector.
In my diary this week I have a meeting with Rushmoor Neighbourhood Watch committee to hear about the issues raised through their membership and the activities of the various committee's. We will also be discussing what works well for police current engagement methods with Rushmoor communities and where we need to develop.
I have one of the regular Aldershot Town Centre Partnership meetings with a number of key partners concerning Crime and ASB within town. We discuss the behaviours, the impact on businesses and shoppers and the community and review the activities we are currently doing and work to our clear plan to problem solve key issues.
During February we ran a number of operations connected to drug networks and county lines. We also launched drug high harm panels with managers and practitioners for Hart and Rushmoor partnership. This is crucial to tie together our activity; pushing down drug supply, supporting those in need  with drug misuse and dealing with the ASB that drug use causes in our communities.
I am meeting with a Councillor this week around speed enforcement and what we can deliver and what we can't at this time. We have the benefit of Farnborough SpeedWatch and the team of volunteers and I am excited to see the new similar scheme in Aldershot develop in the coming couple of months. I am speaking to the Traffic Management Officer around our different tactics in Rushmoor to impact on this issue which is a concern to many. Our activity is very much led by an evidence base and I am in contact with our Safer Roads teams who run the camera vans and our Roads Policing colleagues from Whitchurch that patrol in Rushmoor.
Enough of my diary for the week and onto Covid-19! We have dedicated Police Covid Patrols on many days and evenings and this is around tackling breaches in Covid legislation. We have issued a number of fixed penalty notices in Rushmoor in the last few months. We are closely connected to the people reviewing each report from the public about a COVID breach; sometimes we will attend on the day, at other times we will attend and spot check after the event and always we are looking at repeat locations and repeat concerns. We have to stay resilient, it has been a sad and difficult time for many many people but we must persevere and we will get to a better place.
Please can I encourage all of you that are able to access the internet to tell us about anti-social behaviour, crime and risk concerns through the 'Tell us about it' page on the Hampshire Constabulary website. If you can't access the internet use 101. If a crime or risk situation is happening there and then, please use 999.
Thankyou for listening and best wishes to you all. Inspector Kirsten Troman
