Theft of Quad bikes in Basingstoke rural areas

Alert message sent 03/09/2020 14:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Police are asking residents to be vigilant as Organised Criminals are targeting Horse Studs and Farms in the Basingstoke rural area. Police are conducting OPERATION SLID to try and counter the theft of QUAD bikes in rural areas.

The offenders are using fields and neighbouring properties to gain access to their target premises in an attempt to avoid being seen. The times of these incidents have been from 20:50 hours to 03:30 hours.

If you have a quad bike please be mindful of anyone who may be watching you use it.  In each of the reported incidents the criminals appear to know exactly where the quad bikes have been stored.  Please ensure it is kept in a secure location.

We also believe that all of the victims would have had visits from the criminals prior to the incident.

If you see something suspicious or think somebody is watching you or your property, please report it.  In an emergency please call 999.  Please try and obtain car registration details or photographs of any persons, BUT don’t put yourself at risk to do so.

Please make use of the free website: https://www.immobilise.com/ to record your property.    This site links in with the National Mobile Property Register which all police forces use and it helps us to return stolen property to their owners.

Please take photographs of your Quad bikes and make sure you keep a record of the Chassis number and Engine number. These help us to reunite you with your Quad bike if it gets stolen.

If your quad bike is unfortunately stolen then please quote OPERATION SLID when reporting the theft.

If you have any information about who may be stealing quad bikes please consider using :
https://crimestoppers-uk.org/  or call 0800 555 111. This is 100% anonymous.

Thank you
