Suspicious calls about loft insulation in Hedge End and Fareham West

Alert message sent 11/06/2020 10:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good morning,

We are aware of residents in the Fareham West and Hedge End areas receiving phone calls from a local landline number stating that the loft insulation they had installed under the government scheme had an issue identified whereby the insulation was causing condensation in the loft space. The caller then states that they have someone in the area who could carry out a survey later on in the day. They also want to know whether they are talking to the homeowner.

Hampshire County Council, Trading Standards and the police advise residents not to agree to work that is instigated as a result of a cold call or via a leaflet drop. Residents should obtain at least 3 written quotes from reputable businesses or traders who are either members of the Hampshire County Council Trading Standards Buy With Confidence Scheme, or a recognised trade association.

If you do receive such a phone call then please report it via Citizen’s Advice Report a Scam page ( )
