Officer injured in Basingstoke has been released from hospital and is recovering

An officer who was injured in an incident in Basingstoke yesterday evening (April 12) has been released from hospital and is now recovering at home with his family.

The officer who is in his 20s, received injuries to his head, neck and hands.

Officers attended Churchill Way, Basingstoke, at 4.30pm yesterday evening (12 April) following a concern for welfare call.

During an interaction with the suspect, the officer was stabbed with two knives.

A 43-year-old man, from Basingstoke, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and both knives were seized.

The 43-year-old man remains in police custody at this time.
