Hello and welcome to your latest Community Update. I hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas with family and friends and a Happy New Year to you all.  I am your local PCSO Laura Wren and I cover the Town Centre beat of Basingstoke which consists of Grove, Eastrop, Brookvale and Kings Furlong.

Over the last 90 days three crimes that have seen the biggest increase are Trafficking of Drugs, Theft from Person and Personal Robberies. To put this into context there have been 11 reported incidents of Trafficking Drugs in the last 90 days compared to 4 for the 90 days before that. There have been 23 reported Theft from Person in the last 90 days compared to 9 for the 90 days before that. Personal Robberies has also increased from 13 incidents in the last 90 days from 10 for the previous 90 days.
The three crimes that have decreased the most over the same time period are Arson, Possession of an Offensive Weapon and Business Robberies.

Eastrop has had a slight increase in crime with 531 reported incidents in the last 90 days compared with 520 in the previous 90 days. The Grove has had no change remaining at 79 reported incidents.
Total crime for the Town Centre area for the last 90 days is 809 reported incidents compared to 807 for the 90 days previous.
Theft from Persons
Over the Christmas period we saw an increase of theft from persons. CCTV has identified a potential subject and enquiries are ongoing. The main reasons for this are due to the heavier footfall within the shopping Centre’s over the festive period which increases the risk of distraction theft.
If you witness this kind of activity or have any CCTV/video footage then please call 101 or use the online reporting tool on and your assistance in this is most appreciated.
