Chineham Neighbourhood Watch New Year Communication

Alert message sent 27/12/2019 11:31:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Chineham Coordinators and Deputies:
As we move into 2020, I have started by creating a new distribution list for Chineham Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators and Deputies who are registered with The Neighbourhood Alert System. This updated list has removed from it several who have left the area and also some shown in the Chineham list of coordinators who actually are outside the Area. Specifically, those in Sherfield Park who have established themselves as separate to Chineham Neighbourhood Watch.

I would also like to wish you all a Happy New Year for 2020 and hope that you have all enjoyed a peaceful Christmas.

In early December, a new scheme covering the whole of the Chineham Parish west of the A33 was established. Some parts of the Chineham Parish east of the A33 had to be excluded as the Chineham Parish spans two police beat areas and Neighbourhood watch schemes cannot be established that span more than one Police Beat area. I hope that this will be temporary and will eventually be resolved. However, in the interests of moving forward I decided to draw the boundary along the A33 where it intersects with the Parish boundary in the south and north. This covers much of the Parish area.

The first steps have already been taken, I have been registered and the Area Coordinator and am now the coordinator for this new Parish Wide Scheme. I had to relinquish my role as coordinator for Maybrook as again system restrictions intervened. It seems that a coordinator can only be registered for one scheme.

The existing residents in Maybrook registered in the scheme have been successfully moved to the new Chineham Parish Scheme. The next step will be to address those street schemes in Chineham that do not have a coordinator. Registered members will be contacted and offered the choice to move to the Chineham Parish Scheme.

I hope to be able to report progress on this in time for the February Meeting of coordinators.

It is not the intention to impact any schemes in Chineham where there is an active coordinator. All such schemes will continue as in the past.

My Best Regards
Malcolm Wells
