Police- Burglary awareness

Alert message sent 17/11/2019 11:26:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear Resident

Between the 4th November at 14:30 and 12th November at 19:20 a house in the area around Burnside was subject to an attempted burglary. I am firstly writing to enquire if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious between these times around that area or if anyone has any CCTV which might be beneficial to us.

If Yes to either of those questions then please don't hesitate to call us via 101 and quote the reference number;
44190407375

I am secondly emailing with some crime prevention advice to help you protect your property in these dark winter months,

1. Think about having some lights on timers for when you are out of the house, whether for long or short periods of time as this makes it look like somebody is home. Lights upstairs works best as it is harder for anyone in the street level to check.

2. Make sure that any valuables are locked away and are out of sight.

3. Consider outside lighting to light up drive ways and back gardens. This could make the offender think twice if they think they can/are going to be seen.

If you would like any more advice regarding keep you or your home safe then please visit the Hampshire Police website and search for crime prevention.

Thank you
