Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Basingstoke Police have been made aware of multiple residential burglaries that have occurred between the hours of 08:05am on 26/10/2019 and 01:22am on the 27/10/2019.
These burglaries occurred in the following areas –
  • Holbein Close
  • Deep Lane
  • Worcester Avenue
  • Church Square
  • Co-op in Linden Avenue
Have you seen or heard anything unusual or suspicious recently? Do you have any information that may assist Police with their enquiries?

If so please contact Police by calling 101.
In the meantime we are reminding residents the following advice –

• Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property.
• Ensure rear fencing is in good repair.
• Lock all windows and doors, remembering to double lock UPVC doors (lift handle and turn the key)
• Keep all keys out of reach and sight from the letterbox (remember a device could be used to hook keys through).
• Do not leave ladders and garden tools in your garden, lock them away in your shed.
• Improve natural surveillance at the front of your property i.e. trim high hedges.

Remember most of these offences are opportunist in nature and by taking even simple precautions you can greatly reduce your likelihood of becoming a victim.

Remove temptation!!

You are more likely to be burgled if your property is unoccupied, security is weak and the burglar thinks they will not be seen/ get caught.
