Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Hello Residents,

Not much to report this fortnight - which is good news.

Last week I sent out a Hampshire Alert warning about purse thefts after a purse was stolen from Asda.  Another purse was stolen on the same day from an elderly lady in Sainsbury.
Therefore on Saturday I and PCSO Hurt spent a couple of hours in Asda giving out purse bells and also advice to ladies who were shopping without their handbags zipped up.  We also signed up a few more people for Hampshire Alerts.

Opportunist thieves continue to walk around at night trying vehicle door handles. A laptop was stolen from the boot of a car in PLOVER CLOSE.  Loose change and an IPOD stolen from a car in ROBERTSON ROAD.  A front number plate was stolen from a vehicle in MALLARD CLOSE and two males were spotted on CCTV trying vehicle door handles in BUTTERMERE DRIVE.
Thank you to all the residents who have sent police their CCTV footage.

I have given out advice several times about protecting your vehicle from thieves – don’t leave valuables in the vehicle, don’t leave anything on display, not even loose change, and physically check your vehicle is locked.
It would be really helpful if you would pass on this advice to your friends and family, and also tell them about Hampshire Alerts if they haven’t already signed up.

Drugs continue to cause problems to residents all over Basingstoke. Drug activity can be reported anonymously by phoning Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
