Fortnightly update for West Beat

Alert message sent 29/08/2019 14:25:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Afternoon all, this is your fortnightly update with what’s been happening in and around your area. Apologies it is few days late
Action Fraud:
We have had three reports of Action fraud where elderly members of the community have been victims to scams over the phone and offenders gaining access to their computers and then Internet banking. Please keep an eye on vulnerable members of your family and the community and remind them not to give any personal details out to strangers over the phone
Anti Social Behaviour:
Reports of ASB have increased recently. These include youths hanging around the Buckskin shops and the surrounding area and throwing items at people passing.
17/08 at 22:00 we had reports of youths on Winchester road, South Ham throwing sticks and stones at passing cars and they have also damaged a sign outside the Shell Garage. If you saw anything please contact us on 101 quoting ref: 44190292344
These have gone down as we have only had one over the last two weeks in Charnwood Close where two suspects entered the property and stole a pair of trainers.
When leaving your property unoccupied ensure all windows and doors are closed and secured.
Criminal Damage:
In the early hours of 25/08 numerous vehicles were damaged in Charnwood Close. Please call 101 quoting ref 44190302534 if you have any information regarding this incident
20/08: Just after 3pm in Pinkerton Road a 15 year old was punched in the face and his bag taken.
Advice to public - Spread your valuables around your body. For example, keep your phone in your bag, your house keys in a pocket and your money in your jacket. It then makes it less likely that all your belongings will be stolen if you do become a victim of crime. Don’t talk on the phone or listen to music in the street – this advertises the valuables you have on you and reduces your awareness.
Informant reporting that between 23/08 and 25/08 the wheels from his pedal cycle has been stolen by unknown persons while tied to the railings at the Winklebury Centre
Theft from Vehicle:
Overnight between 20/08 and 21/08 we had 5 reports of theft from Vehicle
Carpenters Court: Informant reporting his vehicle broken into and £100.00 stolen
Stag Hill: Informant reporting his work vehicle has been broken into and work tools stolen
St Peters Road: Informant reporting his work van been broken into and large quantity of tools stolen
St Christopher Close: Informant reporting his vehicle has been broken into by smashing a window and items stolen
Stag Hill: Informant reporting his van broken into and glove boxed searched, no property stolen
On 23/08 and 27/08 we had reports of items being stolen from unlocked vehicles
When leaving vehicles unattended please ensure you lock them and do not leave anything valuable inside.
With one week left of the summer holidays and before everyone goes back to school let’s hope the sun comes out for one last time for all of us to enjoy.
“A fallen leaf is nothing more than a summer’s wave goodbye.”
