Alert message sent 12/08/2019 20:59:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear Resident,

Hampshire Police have received reports of two Burglaries over the weekend as follows -

Between 12:45 hours on Monday 5th August 2019 and 08:30 hours on Saturday 10th August 2019, a property on Fullerton Road, Pennington was targeted whilst the occupants were away on holiday. A quantity of Jewellery was stolen. Did you see anything suspicious in this area between those times? Please call 101 quoting reference 44190282529 if you did.

Between 02:15 hours and 02:45 hours on Saturday 10th August 2019, two sheds were targeted at a property on Milford Road, Everton. A number of power and hand tools were stolen. The offenders then attempted to gain access to an annexe but were disturbed. Please call 101 and quote reference 44190284131 if you saw anything suspicious.

It isn't uncommon for burglars to target properties whilst the occupants are away. With that in mind, please consider the following advice if you are due to go on holiday in the near future -

- Ask a trusted friend or relative to house-sit while you're away. At least that way, your property isn't unattended for a long period and the regular coming/going from the address is likely to put a prospective burglar off.
- Consider CCTV - you can buy CCTV systems that link in to your smartphone and can be monitored remotely. On some systems, you can even give an audible warning to unwanted visitors!
- If you own a motor home which normally lives on your driveway, consider storing it away from the address as a potential burglar will be the first to notice when it goes missing for a few days.
