Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Hello

Firstly I would like to introduce myself as your new PCSO for Oakridge and Popley, My name Brad Hurt and I am going to be out and about in this area, if you see me feel free to come and say hello and ask me any questions you have, if I don’t know the answer I will be able to find it out for you.

Theft from motor vehicles and Burglaries remain our primary community priorities however due to Pro-active policing I am pleased to inform you that these offences have significantly reduced over the past couple of weeks.

Theft from motor vehicles is still an issue, there has been reports of people breaking in to vehicles parked on the road and on private driveways. Always remember to lock your vehicles and don’t leave valuables in the vehicle.

There has been reports of business being broken into. In a couple of instances people have forced entry in to the premises and attempted to remove the safes inside. On some instances it has been reported that out buildings have been targeted especially if there is expensive property stored in them, for example motorcycles, bicycles and tools.

As normal there is plenty of reports of anti-social behaviour across the north of the town. Now all the children have broken up from school they are going to be out more but I can assure you all that I am constantly patrolling around the area to try and prevent any ASB from happening. The main instances of ASB have been occurring in the latter stages of the day.

There has been a high rate of robberies over the past few weeks in Basingstoke including in the Popley and Oakridge area’s I want to encourage you all if you are out late at night to try and stay in well-lit busy area’s and to try and avoid secluded spots if possible.

Last but by no means least, criminal damage. There has been reports of criminal damage is some areas recently. If you are subject to any sort of criminal damage, please make sure to report it.

I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read this update and am looking forward to meeting some of you if you see me out and about, as I said previously please feel free to come and speak to me.
