Volunteers Needed Age 14-25

Alert message sent 21/03/2019 16:34:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear Citizen

Hampshire Constabulary are currently recruiting for volunteers (ages 14-25) to be part of the out of court disposal process known as Community Court.

Community Court involves young volunteers who are trained to operate a “peer court” that decides outcomes for suitable, first-time offenders who commit applicable crimes. The Community Court holds peer-led hearings involving young people who have offended and any victims of a crime to primarily establish what harm has been caused and how it can be repaired. The programme works to aid the police’s use of non-charged outcomes and is only available in suitable cases as an alternative to prosecution via the criminal courts. Therefore those who have been referred have admitted their crime, the circumstances of the crime are as such that a criminal prosecution is not being sought, and the respondent to the crime is willing to take part in a restorative process.

If this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, or you know of someone that would like to volunteer please contact us here.

Kind Regards,
Fareham Neighbourhood Policing Team & Fareham Community Court Team
