Hello Hayling Island!
 
Here are some incidents of note that Hampshire Constabulary have been dealing with throughout January 2019 on Hayling Island, including Burglaries, Criminal Damage, Theft, Drugs-related offences and Road Traffic offences.

BURGLARIES
 
06/01/2019 - Ref 44190000319
SEA FRONT
The Pebble Beach kiosk was broken into between 14:00 on 05/01/2019 and 08:00 on 06/01/2019. Several items of stock were taken and damage caused.
 
13/01/2019 – Ref 44190014852
HAVANT ROAD
An apartment on Mill Rythe Holiday village was accessed between 00:00 and 07:30 on 13/01/2019 and stolen a quantity of cash.
 
27/01/2019 – Ref 44190032969
TOURNERBURY LANE
An address was broken into and two vehicles stolen between 02:00 and 05:30 on 27/01/2019. Four persons were arrested in relation to this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
 

THEFT FROM VEHICLES
 
07/01/2019 – Ref 44190007199
HAMFIELD DRIVE
Between 17:00 on 04/01/2019 and 08:00 on 07/01/2019, a vehicle was entered and a rough search conducted, with one of the seats found slashed. Nothing was stolen.
 
14/01/2019 – Ref 44190016507
SEA FRONT
Between 14:00 and 16:00 on 14/01/2019, an attempt was made to access a vehicle. A hole was made just above the keyhole on the driver’s door. No access was gained.
 

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

WINSOR CLOSE
Report received that a car was damaged with a BB gun between 17:00 on 30/12/2018 and 03:30 on 31/12/2018.

ST MARY’S ROAD
A car was found with damage on its roof consistent with someone walking on it. Occurred between 22:00 on 04/01/2019 and 16:00 on 05/01/2019.

ST MARY’S ROAD
An unknown substance was poured over a vehicle causing damage. Occurred between 18:00 on 08/01/2019 and 08:30 on 09/01/2019.

FISHERY LANE
Between 21:30 on 13/01/2019 and 08:30 on 14/01/2019, owner found their vehicle and tyres had been damaged by a sharp object.
 

DRUGS OFFENCES

FERRY ROAD
Neighbourhood officers on routine patrols along Ferry Road came across a group where a smell of cannabis was coming from. A male admitted having a quantity of cannabis which was seized by the officers and the male was issued a Community Resolution.
 

ROAD TRAFFIC OFFENCES
 
23/01/2019 – Ref 44190027961
SEA GROVE AVENUE
A vehicle was stopped by police after information was received suggesting the driver was under the influence of drugs. The male provided a positive drugs wipe for Cannabis and was subsequently arrested.

MEATH CLOSE
Residents reported youths riding along a public footpath on a Pit Bike on more than one occasion. The youths were located a short time later by a local PCSO. The bike was seized for no insurance and the youths were issued a Section 59 warning.
 

SPEEDWATCH
 
The local Community Speed Watch conducted checks on 25/01/2019 and 30/01/2019 along West Lane and Church Road.
 
A total of 49 vehicles were caught travelling over the posted speed limit.

We are currently looking for volunteers for our local Community Speedwatch group. Speedwatch is a scheme run jointly with members of the Hayling Community and local Police and is all about educating drivers regarding their speed and the dangers of driving too fast. Hopefully you see them regularly out and about monitoring the speed of passing cars.
