Theft from vehicles

Alert message sent 31/01/2019 13:17:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear all,

There has been a recent increase in theft from motor vehicles in the districts of Havant, Hayling Island and Waterlooville.

Thieves have been targeting victims that have inadvertently left their valuables on display, such as handbags and Sat Navs.

Please can we remind you to remove all valuables from your vehicles, even down to loose change (as this can be an incentive for thieves).

Lock your vehicles, double check that you have locked them just in case.

Park your vehicles in well lit areas if you don't have a drive. If you do have a driveway, consider security lighting.

If you own a van for work, which has tools left in it, consider investing in a stop lock for the back of your van. This can often deter thieves.

Take all items out of your glove compartment and leave it open when the vehicle is unattended, just to show that there is nothing inside of it.

If you have any information or witnessed suspicious activity, please call in to 101.

Regards

Havant Neighbourhood Team.
