Vehicle Crime Happening In Your Area

Alert message sent 16/07/2017 21:41:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear Resident,

We have unfortunately received an increased number of Theft from Motor Vehicle incidents in West End.

Mostly all Theft from Motor Vehicle incidents happen because there is a good opportunity to take valuable possessions left in your vehicle. These possessions could be handbags, satnavs, phones or even lose change.

Leaving valuable items in your car overnight on show increases the opportunity and may tempt a potential thief to break into your vehicle.

Here is some advice which your Neighborhood Policing Team recommends:

- When leaving your car, close all windows and lock your car.
- Try your car door after locking to make sure it is actually locked.
- Don't leave anything on display in your vehicle.
- Take all of your personal possessions with you.
- Park in a well-lit area.
- Remove Sat Nav holders and visible Sat Nav ring marks from windscreens.
- Leave the glove box open to show there is nothing inside.
- Record the details of your property on the Immobilise website on
https://www.immobilise.com/
- Do not store your car's documents in the car.

Remain vigilant and please report any incidents to 101 or in an emergency call 999.

Thank you,
Your Local Police Team.
