Good afternoon Winchester South residents,
I have been made aware of an incident that took place on Old Kennels Lane, Oliver's Battery, at around 2am on Saturday 31st October.
At approximately 2am, the occupants of a property on Old Kennels Lane were woken by their doorbell alarm. Initially believing it to be a false alarm, they returned to bed. However, they were awoken again only a few minutes later by a second activation of the doorbell.
Upon reviewing the live footage from their CCTV system, they observed an adult male standing at the front door in a relaxed manner before walking away along Old Kennels Lane towards the top of the hill and Oliver's Battery Road South.
At the same time, a car's headlights were seen pointing downhill. Although this has not been confirmed, the male and the vehicle are believed to be linked.
Following house-to-house enquiries in the surrounding area, a neighbour recalled waking at around the same time and witnessing a similar scene. The vehicle, described as dark in colour, was seen driving slowly along Old Kennels Lane before lightly sounding its horn twice and turning around. It was last seen travelling towards Hursley via Port Lane.
No crimes are known to have taken place, and there may be an innocent explanation for the incident. However, I am keen to establish the identity of the person and vehicle involved.
Do you have a CCTV system or doorbell camera on the Oliver's Battery estate? If so, did it capture anything between 2am and 3am on Saturday 31 October?
If you have any information about the incident, or footage that you believe may be relevant, please contact me by email at william.andrews@hampshire.police.uk or reply directly to this alert.
Thank you for your assistance.
