Throughout the summer, we worked closely with partners to tackle theft of bicycles, theft from motor vehicles, and non-dwelling burglary by encouraging residents and tourists to follow practical steps to protect their property as part of the New Forest’s campaign Operation Forestguard. New figures show that between June and September 2026 reported offences were down by 166 (45% on average) compared to the same period in 2024: Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign, attended events, and took action to protect their property. You can find out more about the summer campaign here. It’s important to continue following crime prevention advice to keep your property secure all year round and you can find practical ways to do that here: Attend one of our free sessions to register and mark your valuables such as bicycles to deter thieves and to make it easier for your items to be returned to you if they’re stolen. These events can be found by entering your postcode in the ‘Find Your Area’ section of the Force’s website homepage and navigating to the ‘Meetings and Events’ tab. You can also find out about these opportunities by following our New Forest Police Facebook page and keeping an eye out on our Hampshire Alert messages. We are encouraging residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity. Non-emergency questions and to seek help or advice can be asked using the AI Virtual Assistant Bobbi here: Livechat Report anything suspicious by calling 101 or by visiting our website. Always call 999 in an emergency. If you have any information about a theft or burglary, you can report it 100% anonymously to Crimestoppers. | ||
