Butser Neighbourhood Policing Team Update |
||
|
Good Morning, I wanted to provide you with an update on what the Butser Neighbourhood Policing Team has been up to over the last couple of weeks.
District Priority - Petersfield Town Centre Our district priority in Petersfield remains unchanged. Anti-social behaviour (ASB) and public order issues within the town centre continue to be a concern. We are continuing to carry out high-visibility patrols and take positive action to address these issues. We are also working closely with local businesses and partner agencies to tackle concerns and maintain a safe environment for everyone who lives, works and visits the town centre. Following proactive patrols, PC Etele and PCSO Manns located suspected stolen property within a vehicle, and enquiries are ongoing. Officers also recently assisted an unwell resident whose condition deteriorated rapidly while they were at the scene. Recognising the seriousness of the situation, PC Etele immediately commenced CPR and continued providing lifesaving first aid until further medical assistance arrived. His quick actions and professionalism helped ensure the resident received critical care at the earliest opportunity.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered While out on patrol, PC Chandler, who recently completed her neighbourhood policing attachment with our team, located a quad bike that appeared to have been abandoned in The Heath car park, Petersfield. Further enquiries revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from the Bordon area. The quad bike has since been recovered and reunited with its owner. Speed Enforcement Activity PC Kirby and PCSO Toogood have recently carried out speed enforcement operations at the following locations: As a result of this activity, one speeding ticket was issued.
Anti-Social Behaviour in Clanfield There have been multiple reports across Clanfield of groups of young people throwing eggs and fruit at residential properties. While some may view this behaviour as harmless fun, these incidents can have a significant impact on victims. Being targeted can cause distress and anxiety for residents, as well as result in financial costs associated with cleaning or repairing damaged property. We continue to take reports of this nature seriously and encourage anyone experiencing similar incidents to report them to police. Information provided by residents helps us identify those responsible and take appropriate action. Please note that some of these young individuals have been identified and spoken too by police.
Anti-Social Behaviour – Horndean We have received reports of individuals riding e-scooters around the Horndean area, including on pavements and in local parks, whilst behaving in an anti-social manner towards members of the public. As a reminder, it is illegal to ride privately owned e-scooters on public roads, pavements, cycle paths and other public places. Those caught using them unlawfully can face significant penalties, including fines, penalty points on their driving licence and seizure of the vehicle. Parents, grandparents and guardians should also be aware that the law extends to adults who purchase these devices for young people and allow or encourage their use in public places. Under the "cause or permit" offence, the responsible adult may be liable for prosecution, which could result in fines and penalty points being added to their driving licence. In response to these reports, local schools have been informed and information has been shared with parents through school newsletters. Several individuals have now been identified and their details have been provided to police. More recently, an e-scooter was seized in the Horndean area by our Roads Policing Team.
Final Roundup…Almost There 😊 We are also currently preparing case files to submit to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for advice regarding two burglaries and one attempted burglary at business premises in Horndean. Through our enquiries, the same individual has been linked to all three incidents. We continue to monitor reports of theft from motor vehicles occurring across East Hampshire and robustly investigate them. We would encourage residents to take precautions by ensuring all vehicle doors are locked overnight. Some vans are being targeted even when locked, so where possible please remove tools and valuables overnight, park in well-lit areas, and consider locations covered by CCTV or Ring doorbells. Our team has also been out conducting safeguarding visits and supporting vulnerable victims of fraud across our district, helping to prevent further harm and providing crime prevention advice.
Please continue to report incidents to police via 101 or online via the following; www.hampshire.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime www.hampshire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour or 999 in an emergency.
