Four arrested on suspicion of hare coursing near Odiham

Three men and a teenager have been arrested following a suspected illegal hare coursing incident near Odiham. 

We were called at 11pm on Friday 4 September to a report that a Honda CR-V was being driven around a field near Hayley Lane, Long Sutton.

It was reported that the people inside the vehicle were shining a lamp and it was believed they were hare coursing in the field.

Officers attended the scene and located the vehicle. Three lurcher-type dogs, as well as a number of lamps, were found inside the car. The dogs were taken to kennels and the vehicle was seized.

A 46-year-old man from Shepperton, Surrey, was arrested on suspicion of participating in a hare coursing event, entering land as a trespasser at night with poaching equipment and driving when alcohol level above limit.

A 31-year-old man from Maidstone, Kent, was arrested on suspicion of participating in a hare coursing event, entering land as a trespasser at night with poaching equipment and driving when alcohol level above limit.

A 22-year-old man from Tonbridge, Kent, was arrested on suspicion of participating in a hare coursing event, entering land as a trespasser at night with poaching equipment and driving when alcohol level above limit.

A 15-year-old boy from Maidstone, Kent, was arrested on suspicion of participating in a hare coursing event and entering land as a trespasser at night with poaching equipment.

They have been bailed with conditions, to allow for further work to be carried out.
