Man, 32, charged with Holbury arson

A 32-year-old man from Holbury has been charged in connection with arson with intent to endanger life and dwelling burglary.

Michael Cranwell, of May Close, has been remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 11 August).

It follows a report to police shortly after 8pm on Sunday (9 August) of a fire which had spread from a hedge to vehicles and residential properties on Rollestone Road, Holbury.

We attended the location, along with our emergency service partners from South Central Ambulance Service and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service.

Extensive damage was caused as a result of the fire. Reported injuries were thankfully minor only.
