Operation Clean & Safe, |
Hi Resident
Today I was out on foot patrol in Sandown with one of the Realm Officers as part of Operation Clean & Safe, a joint initiative between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary. We spoke with lots of residents, many of whom were really appreciative of the visible presence and ongoing work in the area. The operation focuses on tackling anti-social behaviour and enforcing Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) — including issues such as dog fouling, dogs off leads and littering. Officers are also checking dog microchipping compliance under the 2023 regulations. Council and police teams are engaging with the community, installing new signage, promoting responsible behaviour and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices where necessary. Several penalties have already been issued for environmental offences including littering, fly-tipping and dogs off leads. By expanding this operation, we’re working to keep our town centres and coastal spaces clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone. Residents can follow updates online and report any concerns via the council or police. | ||
