In the last few days Police have seen an increase in reports relating to theft from motor vehicle (Car x 2) and (Van x 1) across the Waterlooville South area. Offences have predominantly taken place night, whether a vehicle is parked in a driveway or on the street. Historically it would appear that a majority of offences being opportunistic where by persons are seen are trying car door handles. Once entered untidy searches are made and items stolen. Most offences of theft from vehicle are opportunist. If valuable possessions (e.g. handbags, laptops, mobile phones) are left on show inside a vehicle, it is much more likely to be targeted by thieves.
