Appeal for witnesses and information following sexual assault in Portsmouth |
||
|
We are continuing to investigate a sexual assault on a bus in Portsmouth following an arrest as part of our enquiries.
It was reported to us that at around 1:00pm on Friday 4 July, a woman in her 40’s was on the Number 3 bus approaching The Hard, when a man unknown to her tried to kiss her. She was not hurt.
She pushed him away and the man, who was described as white and who was wearing a black baseball cap and gold chain, got off the bus. He continued to make inappropriate gestures at her through the window.
We’ve been carrying out various enquiries including reviewing CCTV, but still need to speak to other passengers who were on the bus or who were in the area who may be able to assist us.
As part of our investigation, we have arrested a 48-year-old man from Portsmouth on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been released on conditional bail until 14 January whilst enquiries continue.
If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please report this to us by calling 101 and quoting 44250296499, or report online via How to tell us about an existing case or report | Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary
