My Shift today - 28 mile cycle patrol |
||
Good Resident
Well I didn’t quite make it to 30 miles, however 28 miles will do nicely, but it is an electric pedal assist bike, so I do have some help! Obviously we can’t be everywhere all of the time, but we do try.
I’m now in my 20th year of policing and haven’t done a roundup of my shift for a long time, so here goes, these are a mix of allocated jobs to me and normal patrol activities -
Visited the barn in River Hamble Country Park and spoke with families. Spoke with several young people in Alder Avenue, a parent told them off for being rude to me, but sadly this didn’t have much effect. Patrolled Botley Rec, spoke to some residents. Spoke with several young people at Boorley Green Sports Pavillion. 1 father arrived and collected his daughters Escooter. Patrolled Dowd’s farm park, moved on 6 groups of fishers from the pond that is ‘No Fishing’. Dowd’s Farm Park – Hedge End Town Council Patrolled Hatch Grange and park. Patrolled West End Skate Park. Patrolled Barnsland rec. Spoke to staff at Go Ape in Itchen Valley Country Park. (IVCP) Gave colouring in sheets and a sticker to a young man in IVCP. I was stopped by a man who mentioned to me about Ebikes riding at high speed on the grass / fields for the last few nights in IVCP – this hadn’t been reported to police. Please report what is happening, so we can try to be in the right place at the right time. Report antisocial behaviour | Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary Domestic abuse cocoon watch letters delivered. Patrolled Cutbush football fields / Pavillion. Patrolled Townhill Way shops and play area. Patrolled Sainsbury’s / M& S area. Patrolled Shamblehurst Lane South and St Lukes area. Patrolled Turnpike pavilion – 2 x males dealt with for possession of cannabis. Patrolled Greta Park. Vulnerable man with dementia visited and details taken for report to safeguard him. Woodhouse Skate Park visited. Norman Rodaway Park visited. As well as the above, a lady waved to me from her car, which was lovely and a young man in his car made an unpleasant hand gesture to me, which was not so lovely!
Obviously we always get residents who say they never see us out and about on patrol, so please do share my post into your local community groups, so residents can see I have been out, even if they didn’t see me today.
