Winchester City Neighbourhood Policing Team Weekly Update
It's been a short week for us here as we swing into the weekend rest days.
Nothing major to report from this week other than efforts being made to highlight National Spiking Awareness Week.
PC Jeffery has attended the Pubwatch meeting with the licensed venues in Winchester and has reinforced the importance of remaining vigilant and identifying the early signs of suspected spiking incidents, as well as how to report these incidents properly.
Early reporting and police forensic testing is key, which is why we continue to work all year round with licensed venues to train bar staff in how to handle spiking in their premises. Spiking offences can be complex and challenging to investigate because drugs pass through the system quickly and there is often limited evidence to identify offenders.
PCSO Leung has attended the University to also highlight the importance of this campaign, which aims to equip students and staff at the university with the knowledge and the confidence to stay safe, support their peers, and to speak up.

Officers also conducted Night Time Economy patrols tonight, checking in with the licensed venues and dealing with general anti-social behaviour before they escalated. Pictured below is PS Keen by the Guildhall.
