👮 A Message from Your Local Officer – Scrambler Bike Seized at Great Salterns 👮 |
||
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to report scrambler bikes around the Great Salterns area. Your calls and on-line reports have made an impact—and I’m pleased to share that, thanks to your reports, we’ve seized one of the bikes involved.
The rider was under 16, and as part of our response, we’ve spoken directly with the rider and their parents to educate them about their legal responsibilities. Their details are now on record, and should further offences occur, we’ll be taking swift action against them.
🚫 The seized bike will not be returned and will soon be crushed—a clear message that this won’t be tolerated. This is also going to have a financial impact on those involved.
📢 A reminder to all parents and guardians: • Scrambler bikes must be insured, MOT’d, and the rider must hold a valid driving licence to be used on public roads. • If your child is riding without these, they are committing criminal offences and may face prosecution. • Riders must operate vehicles safely and responsibly in accordance with the Road Traffic Act—this includes respecting speed limits, signage, and the safety of others. • You, as a parent or guardian, may also be prosecuted for allowing or permitting them to ride these bikes on public roads/areas.
We know this isn’t an isolated issue, and there’s still more work to do. If you continue to see scrambler bikes being ridden dangerously or illegally, please keep reporting it—either by calling 101 or using our online reporting system.
