Data Breaches #Stop!Think Fraud |
||
Good afternoon, We’ve had a number of reports from residents who have had their data “acquired” in various recent data breaches. If this happens to you our advice is: In simple terms, consider changing what you can eg: email address, phone number etc, and then informing everyone else you can think of (depending on what you've shared/what's been acquired) eg: Passport Office (to prevent being stopped at Border Control next time you go on holiday) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-passport-office or phone 0300 222 0000 DVLA (to prevent driving/parking offences being incorrectly attributed to you) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/driver-and-vehicle-licensing-agency or phone 0300 790 6801 DWP – (to prevent problems now or in the future with pensions and/or other benefits) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-work-pensions HMRC - (to prevent any problems relating to tax etc) : https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs Do take up sources of support eg: Victim Care Hub/Victim Support listed below
