Local Priorities Vehicle Crime - theft from / theft of Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle Crime - theft from / theft of, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

A man has been charged following a report that an excavator had been stolen from an address in North Baddesley.

Phil Slater, 32, of Lugsmore Lane, St Helens, Merseyside, has been charged with theft of a vehicle, driving a motor vehicle otherwise in accordance with licence, and using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance.

He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (Friday 22 August).

It follows a report received at 12.58pm on Wednesday 20 August that the machine had been stolen from an address in Queens Ride.

Officers located the excavator on a trailer attached to a vehicle on the hard shoulder of the A34 northbound near Newbury.

A man was arrested and the vehicle was recovered.
