Local Priorities Criminal Damage Concern Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Criminal Damage, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Officers investigating reports of a burglary and criminal damage at Greenfields Junior School in Hartley Wintney have made an arrest.

We were called to a report that the school had been broken into, and a significant amount of damage had been caused between 4.30am and 9am on 6 August.

Officers launched an investigation and made an arrest yesterday (10 August).

A 14-year-old boy from Hartley Wintney was arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal and criminal damage to property – value over £5,000.

He has been bailed with conditions, to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting 44250352764.

You can also submit information to us online here: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/

Tackling anti-social behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area.

The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour.

These include:

  • civil injunctions.

  • criminal behaviour orders.

  • public spaces protection orders.

  • community protection notices.

  • dispersal powers.

  • closure powers.

The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and anti-social behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at www.hampshire.police.uk, or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
