I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Theft - (shoplifting, personal, other), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

A man has been charged with robbery following an incident in Basingstoke.

Officers were called to a report that a member of staff had been assaulted inside Londis on Alencon Link at 11.40pm on 25 July. It was also reported that alcohol was stolen.

We attended the scene and located a man with a knife near Festival Way. Officers also found cannabis following a search and arrested a man. All items were seized.

James Koang Ziel, 19, of no fixed abode, has been charged with:

Robbery
Possess knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place
Possess a controlled drug of Class B

He appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (28 July) and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 27 August.
