Local Priorities Antisocial Behaviour Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Antisocial Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Good Afternoon everyone,

Today is the first day of the summer holidays and we hope that all our young people enjoy their time off school and have a fantastic summer holiday.

PARENTS / GUARDIANS, have you had a chat with your young people about being out and about this summer? Some young people can behave very differently when they are in a group of friends and this can sometime cause annoyance and upset to residents. Please can you speak to your young people about making the right choices and how their behaviour can impact others this summer.

Today I’ve been out on high vis cycle patrol covering 13 miles, including several parks –

• Greta Park,
• Norman Rodaway Park,
• Woodhouse skate Park,
• Hatch Farm Skate Park,
• Cutbush Lane Rec.

On my travels I saw 3 young people stood with Escooters, they all knew they were illegal to use in public, the Escooters were collected and taken home by parents.

I was asked to check out a potentially abandoned VW golf in Havendale. Before I started my patrol I managed to find a number for someone connected to the car owner and advised it was reported as suspected abandoned. While I was with the car I phoned this person again and advised it was partially obstructing the pavement and was advised it will be moved this evening – please let me know by commenting, if the car does not get moved.

DID YOU KNOW?? Its not always easy for us to find a car as some roads have multiple off shoots. If you need to report something and need to give a location, please give the nearest house number to the location, or the what 3 words location, so we can save time when finding where to go.

Tackling anti-social behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area.

The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour.

These include:

  • civil injunctions.

  • criminal behaviour orders.

  • public spaces protection orders.

  • community protection notices.

  • dispersal powers.

  • closure powers.

The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and anti-social behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at www.hampshire.police.uk, or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
