Local Priorities Violent Crime Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Violent Crime, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

A man has been charged with robbery following an incident in Basingstoke.

We received a report that a man was assaulted and had his electric bicycle stolen on Vivian Road on 12 July.

Officers launched an investigation and made an arrest on 20 July. It was reported that an officer was assaulted, and an attempt was made to damage a police vehicle.

Jake Hutchinson, 28, of no fixed abode, has since been charged with:

- Robbery
- Assault a constable in the execution of his / her duty
- Using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress
- Attempt criminal damage to property valued under £5,000
- Possessing a controlled drug of Class B

Hutchinson is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (22 July).
