Reporting phishy emails and texts As of April 2025, the total number of phishing scams reported to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS) (by forwarding the email to report@phishing.gov.uk) reached over 41 million since its launch in April 2020. This has resulted in 217,000 scams being removed from across 393,395 websites pages by the National Cyber Security Centre. Suspicious text messages can be reported by using 7726, a free service where you can forward suspicious messages to, which helps the removal of scam websites and allows networks to block users sending scam texts. Between April 2020 and April 2025, 27,000+ scams were removed as a result of being reported using 7726.
Op Traverse: Illegal Fishing Prevention Summer tends to coincide with a rise in crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) along the county’s rivers. We receive seasonal reports of illegal fishing, and sadly many river keepers in Hampshire have in the past been subjected to violence, threats and intimidation. Criminals have shot river keepers with ball bearings, vandalised their cars and home addresses, and killed wild animals as a means to intimidate. Operation Traverse is the force's response to this crime type and involves partnership working with the Environment Agency, conducting visible joint patrols in hotspot areas, targeting offenders, engaging with those fishing legitimately as well as reassuring victims that this offending will not be tolerated. Ticket Fraud Alert Gig-goers have been urged to be wary of scams when purchasing last-minute tickets on social media after Action Fraud reporting shows £1.6 million was lost to concert ticket fraud in 2024. Only buy tickets from the venue’s box office or an official ticketing website and use the site’s recommended payment methods to stay protected.
Be Deer Aware According to The British Deer Society, it is estimated that annually the number of deer killed or injured on UK roads is likely to exceed 40,000 and may well be nearer 74,000. We want to share the following advice so motorists can be deer aware: Beware during peak danger periods and drive with caution Highest risk times tend to be sunset to midnight and the hours shortly before and after sunrise.
Use your lights After dark use full beam when there’s no opposing traffic. BUT when a deer is noted on the road, dim your headlights. Startled animals may freeze rather than leave the road.
Seen one? Look for another Beware that more deer may well cross after the one you have noticed.
Visit The British Deer Society website for further advice and information on the different ways to report an incident, and what to do in the event that you hit a deer: https://bds.org.uk/information-advice/issues-with-deer/advice-for-drivers/
