Good Afternoon,
We would like to reassure residents that we are fully aware and doing everything we can to tackle the ongoing problem of the illegal use of e-scooters in Basingstoke. We know there have been recent incidents at the Hatch Warren Community Centre, Down Grange, Brighton Hill and surrounding areas. We understand the impact e-scooters are having on members of the public and the frustration that they cause. We thank all those that have made reports to us.
The South/ West Neighbourhood Policing Teams are making this a priority and we are regularly patrol our known hotspot areas as regularly as we can. We are doing our best to follow up all lines of enquiries provided to us. This includes making contact with the reporting person, targeting our patrols to areas with high reports and working with our partner agencies to address the matter.
A large number of individuals have recently received a and E-scooter Warning Notice for using them in a public place. Should they be caught again the e-scooter they are using may be seized. If a driving offence has taken place, then we will look to prosecute them, evidence permitting.
If you become aware of any similar incidents or have any evidence that could assist us, we strongly urge you to please contact us via 101, online or via your Local Bobby. You can work out who your Local Bobby is via the following link (https://orlo.uk/Local_Bobby_y3zcS). Please also feel free to reply to this alert with any further information you wish to provide. |
