Celebrate the Isle of Wight's biosphere

The Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival is a weekend for local businesses, organisations and communities to celebrate our Biosphere status together, with events for everyone, all over our island!

Over 60 events

There are over 60 events taking place across the Isle of Wight with walks, talks, fashion, art, music, storytelling, films, nature tours, gardening, workshops and more. Most are free or low cost, and lots are family friendly.

Local community events

All the events are by local organisations and individuals, joining together to celebrate our incredible UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Good for those who want a festival with a broad variety of ways to connect with nature and a relaxed vibe, not to mention a truly beautiful setting.

Programme full of events

The Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival kicks off on the first weekend with FOCAS Fest, Focus on Conservation and Science at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary providing family activities. Other events are being planned by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, National Trust, local Libraries, the Quay Arts Centre, Wood Learn Forest School, Isle of Wight Quakers, Project Seagrass, Fishbourne Parish Council, Grow Gurnard Community growing project, Isle of Wight National Landscapes and many others.

Learn about making Meadow Magic, join a story walk to the beach and back or learn the Secret of Trees. Get on your bike at the Ryde Kidical Mass ride or enjoy a free film screen of "My Garden of a Thousand Bees". Enjoy a talk from author Roger Morgan-Grenville about his travels around the coast of Britain or discover Mindful Gardening in the Buddle Biosphere with Sylvia Clare.

Come along to an open day with recent stars of "Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild" Permaculture Island, celebrate a woodland nature reserve in the West Wight and discover historic landscapes in the east at Brading Roman Villa. There is a Freediving Safari and Marine Conservation, a Climate Fresk workshop, a swift walk in Ryde, sonic art installation in a church in Calbourne, acoustic gig in East Cowes and a precious bog habitat tour in Godshill.

Choose from a variety of events designed to inspire relaxation, spark creativity, encourage learning, meet new people and most importantly deliver plenty of fun.
