A man from Oakley has been jailed for failing to comply with sexual offender notification requirements.
Leon Davies, of Sycamore Tree Road, also admitted two counts of theft from a shop and two breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order.
The 27-year-old appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Monday 9 June.
The court heard that Davies is on the sexual offenders register for an indecent exposure offence in 2024, and is required to abide by notification requirements.
He admitted breaching those requirements, as he did not attend a police station to register within three days of being released from prison.
The court heard that Davies was released from prison on Thursday 29 May. The following day, and the day after that, Davies stole alcohol from the One Stop shop in Oakley Lane, Oakley.
In doing so, he twice breached a Criminal Behaviour Order imposed on him in 2024 after previous convictions for shoplifting.
The order states that Davies must place items in a basket or trolley and prove he has the means to pay and leave a store if requested to do so.
Davies was jailed for a total of 40 weeks.
Inspector Charlie Ilderton said: “Davies was in court for a number of offences and he now has to face the consequences of his actions.
“Firstly, it is an offence for sex offenders to not comply with their notification requirements, and we take the management of that extremely seriously.
“We also know the impact that Davies’ shoplifting has had on businesses and shop workers in the district.
“We will continue to look at every power available to us to make sure those who show such disregard for the law are brought back to court.”
