Over the past couple of months, you may have seen more Police activity on Yateley Common, particularly the disused airfield and adjacent areas.

Today, due to a high amount of reports of vehicular antisocial behaviour coupled with relating incidents of public order and assault, we ran an operation targeting this issue across our district.

Various officers were deployed in a marked and unmarked capacity alongside our off-road motorbike unit to patrol our common land and deal with any offences present. We were also joined throughout the day by partners from Hampshire Countryside, The Forestry Commission, and Blackbushe Airport.

This morning a motorbike was seized for driving without insurance in the Heathlands Cemetery area and an investigation has commenced.

Shortly after, a Mini One was stopped and the driver was identified as driving other than in accordance with a licence. This vehicle was linked to a convoy attending the area to use our common land for vehicular antisocial behaviour on common land – this vehicle was also seized.

A further driver was also reported at the roadside for driving with an insecure load – transporting a quad bike to our area without the appropriate equipment to secure it.

Ten warning letters for vehicles suspected of being linked to vehicular antisocial behaviour will also be sent warning letters to inform the owner that this will not be tolerated in our area and any offences will be dealt with robustly.

We’ll continue to target this throughout the summer as we know that residents of our community see this as a priority to keep this area safe to live, work and visit.
