During the incident, which occurred between 5.21pm and 5.36pm on Thursday 22 May, it’s reported that an unknown man was assaulted by people who were travelling in a black Vauxhall Astra – registration WX11 EXF.

The Astra was subsequently seen heading in the direction of Winklebury Way, with reports of it being driven dangerously.

If you were in the area at the time and witnessed anything of the incident itself, or recall seeing the Astra driving along Winklebury Way, please contact 101 and quote incident number 44250223959.

We’d also like to hear from if you have any footage of the incident, including dash cam or mobile phone.

If you were the victim of the assault, please get in touch with us, quoting the above incident number.

In addition to the above incident, we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the same vehicle being driven in the area of Thornycroft Roundabout, Ashwood Way and Hazelwood Close at approximately 1pm on Sunday 1 June. Do you have any dash cam footage which may assist us in our enquiries?

The vehicle failed to stop for officers on the afternoon in question, before being abandoned on a footpath near to Hazelwood Close. Incident number 44250238820 refers.

An 18-year-old woman from Basingstoke was subsequently arrested on Winklebury Way on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and theft of motor vehicle. She has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
