Arrest made following burglary at foodbank in Fleet

Hi all,

We wanted to update you on the burglary at Hart Foodbank in Fleet on Sunday 25 May.

It was reported that the premises in Fleet Road had been entered by unknown people between 8.15pm and 8.45pm that evening.

Two windows had been smashed and the building had been vandalised.

Food had been emptied across the premises and placed in sinks with the taps running, causing water to overflow.

We’ve been carrying out a number of enquiries since this was reported to us.

Last night (Thursday 5 June), officers arrested a 14-year-old boy from Church Crookham on suspicion of burglary, as part of this investigation.

He was also arrested on suspicion of burglary in relation to an incident at the same site on the afternoon of Wednesday 5 March.

On that occasion, it was reported that entry was forced and some glass sauce bottles were smashed.

The boy was interviewed and has been released on police bail with conditions until Friday 5 September, while our investigation continues.

Sergeant Geoff Hill, from Hart Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a disgusting attack on a charity that is just trying to help people in the community.

“We’re determined to identify those responsible and have a number of lines to enquiries to follow in the coming days and weeks.

“Meanwhile, if you have any information that could help our enquiries, call us on 101 quoting the crime reference number 44250228873 or report it via our website.”
